With the Norwegian Pearl from Norwegian Cruise Line, you can embark on a transatlantic cruise in November 2025. The journey takes you from Barcelona to Miami and includes stops in Spain, Gibraltar, Morocco, and Madeira. The current price of €34 per night is a true bargain for such a transatlantic route. Even better, flights back to Europe after the cruise currently come for a decent price, starting at just €350, including luggage.

The entire 15-night cruise in an inside cabin is available for just €506 per person. However, the oceanview cabins from €649 are significantly more appealing (prices per person based on double occupancy). Solo travellers can join the cruise in an inside for just €506, as there is no single supplement.

Route

The cruise begins in the vibrant Mediterranean metropolis of Barcelona, Spain. From here, the Norwegian Pearl sets sail towards the southern coast of Spain, promising a journey filled with cultural discoveries.

Your first stops will be along the picturesque Spanish coast, with visits to Cartagena, Málaga, and Cadiz. These ports offer a chance to explore rich Andalusian history, from ancient Roman theatres to stunning Moorish architecture, before heading towards the gate of the Mediterranean.

Next, the ship calls at Gibraltar, a British Overseas Territory famous for its iconic Rock, which is home to Barbary macaques. The adventure continues as you cross over to North Africa for a day in Casablanca, Morocco, where you can marvel at the magnificent Hassan II Mosque. The final port of call is Funchal on the beautiful Portuguese island of Madeira.

After leaving Madeira, you’ll have seven consecutive sea days to fully relax and explore all the amenities the Norwegian Pearl has to offer. After 15 nights on board, the cruise concludes in Miami, USA, where you can choose to extend your stay and explore sunny Florida.

Visa Info

Most Europeans need an electronic system for travel authorization (ESTA) to enter the USA for up to 90 days. This costs US$40 (~€34) and you should apply for it a couple of days before your trip, at the latest.

There are some cases where you cannot apply for an ESTA, e.g. if you’ve been to Cuba since 2021 or to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, or North Korea since March 2011. In those cases, you’ll need to get a visa from a US embassy or consulate, which can take multiple weeks.

The Ship

The Norwegian Pearl was built in 2006 and last renovated in 2021. The ship is 294 meters long and 38 meters wide, with a maximum speed of 25 knots, although this speed is rarely needed in normal operation. The ship can accommodate a total of 2,394 passengers and 1,072 crew members. It was built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany.

The bars and lounges on board ensure a lively atmosphere. A particular highlight is the Bliss Ultra Lounge, which also serves as a bowling center and nightclub. A show is performed every evening at the Stardust Theater. The ship has a fitness center and an outdoor sports court, so you can stay active whenever you wish. Passengers can find peace and relaxation in the spa area (for an additional fee).

The Norwegian Pearl offers a total of 16 different dining options. In addition to the main and buffet restaurants, there are also various specialty restaurants that require an additional fee, such as a steakhouse, Le Bistro with French delicacies, or the Brazilian-inspired Moderno. There is something for every taste.

The onboard language is English. The onboard currency is the US dollar, and the easiest way to settle your expenses at the end of the cruise is with a credit card.

Getting Back

The cruise starts in Barcelona and ends in Miami, so you will need to book a one-way ticket from Miami to Europe. For example, you can fly non-stop with Air Europa to Madrid for €350 with checked luggage.
